A PASTOR of the Christ Embassy Church in Bulawayo allegedly assaulted his wife resulting in her sustaining a swollen eye during a dispute over her inheritance, it has been learnt.
Cornelio Mudzani Sunduza (44) of Rodger Road, Sunninghill briefly appeared before Bulawayo magistrate, Miss Rose Dube, for allegedly Contravening Section 3 (a) (1) and section 4 of the Domestic Violence Act, chapter 9:23 last Tuesday.
The prosecutor, Mr Malvern Nzombe, told the court that on 25 March this year Sunduza and his wife had a heated argument over her mother’s estate while they were in their bedroom at their Sunninghill home.
It is alleged that on the day in question Sunduza was seated on their matrimonial bed while his wife lay next to him. Sunduza is said to have asked her to phone her relatives to come and sort out the pending issue of her mother’s estate.
Mrs Sunduza refused to comply with his request and told him to call them himself.
That angered Sunduza who allegedly became violent and dragged his wife off the bed onto the floor were he allegedly kicked her several times all over the body.
The court was further told that his alleged onslaught did not end there as he went on to assault her with fists and open hands on the face and other parts of body.
As a result of the attack, Mrs Sunduza sustained a swollen left eye and her left arm was also swollen. The matter was reported to the police, leading to Sunduza’s arrest.
Mrs Sunduza was referred to United Bulawayo Hospitals for treatment. The medical report will be presented in court as evidence.
Sunduza was remanded out of custody to 26 May for continuation of trial.

Christian woman attacked by husband for speaking "highly" of women
See the woman isn't all that right. While it is true women are equal and have rights and whatever, but in Christianity that isn't the case.
Juanita Bynum, a preacher whose fiery and frank sermons about women’s empowerment have won her a national following, was attacked by her husband in the parking lot of an Atlanta hotel early Wednesday morning, police said.
Bynum, whose ministry is based in Waycross, and her estranged husband, Thomas W. Weeks III, had met up at Renaissance Concourse Hotel near Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport to try to reconcile, Atlanta police said.
But while at the parking lot about 4 a.m., the two got into a physical fight until a bellman at the hotel pulled Bynum’s husband off her, Officer Ronald Campbell said.
“She was bruised up and battered,” Campbell said. “She had purple bruising around her neck and upper torso.”
The husband, who is also a preacher, left the scene. No charges have been filed against him, according to police.
Police found out about the fray from a staff member at Piedmont Hospital, where Bynum was taken for a checkup. She could not be reached Wednesday night.
A popular Pentecostal evangelist, Bynum lives in Hempstead, N.Y., but her administrative offices are in Waycross. She is open about her past, freely talking about sex and being on welfare, hospitalized with a mental breakdown, divorced and spiritually broken.
Once a homemaker, a hairdresser and a flight attendant, Bynum’s big break came when Bishop T.D. Jakes invited her to speak at one of his conferences several years ago. Her ministry took off a couple of years later after she gave her unrehearsed “No More Sheets” sermon on breaking free of sexual promiscuity at a singles event.

Pastor tortured wife for a decade
I'm quite shocked. This has to be one of the worst cases of domestic violence by any Christian (for pastor's and priests atelast)
A former pastor in Floyd County is arrested and charged with assault in what detectives call one of the worse cases of domestic violence they have seen.
37 year old Alonzo Bradley is accused of torturing his wife for years.
Wednesday afternoon Bradley's case was waived to a grand jury.
Police and domestic violence shelter directors say this case is an example of domestic violence increasing in the big sandy region.
In the past four years, domestic violence cases nearly doubled in this area.
37 year old Alonzo Bradley was arrested wearing a "Be Like Jesus" t-shirt.
Police say he used to be the pastor at the Freedom Pentecostal Church on Conley Fork in Floyd County; but detectives say behind closed doors he tortured his wife for a decade.
“It's just a horrendous case. It's one of the worst assaults we've seen on a woman in a long time. Sadistic type injuries to this woman of beating with implements and using instruments to actually burn her with and so forth, so it's just a terrible situation,” trooper Mike Goble said.
The woman is now in a safe place.
Bradley's attorney did not want to comment.
This is just one of the hundreds of domestic violence cases in the Big Sandy Region.
Statistics from the Kentucky Domestic Violence Association show the region is one of the only places in Eastern Kentucky where cases have increased every year since 2006.
The Sandy Valley Abuse Shelter went from helping 93 people in '06 to 177 in 2009.
“I think the numbers have increased, especially with the economy, you know, things have been worse and our numbers have increased,” Elizabeth Fitch, Sandy Valley Abuse Center Program Coordinator.
Police say the case involving the former pastor shows alleged abuse is happening in all walks of life.
“It occurs in the richest of families to the very poorest of families,” Trooper Goble said.
“It's all about power and control, it has nothing to do with your status in the community,” Elizabeth Fitch said.
Bradley is being held on a 250-thousand dollar bond. Police say more charges are pending
http://www.wkyt.com/wymtnews/headlines/89063582.html
See women in Christianity are forbidden to divorce their husbands. They have to submit (ephesians 5:22, 5:24, 1 Peter 3:6 and numerous others) to whatever their husbands say. The inferior status of women in this faith is clearly shown and reflected.
All I can say is God help the helpless christian women, suffering and wanting out of their marriages and just the faith in general.

Pastor abducts and kills his own wife
From last February. Interesting, the more i search for these christian-ignored news articles, the more I find.
MANILA, Philippines - A cellular phone subscriber identity module (SIM) card led to the arrest of an Adventist pastor in Cebu City for the abduction and killing of his wife, a radio report said early Friday.
Radio dzBB's Cebu affiliate reported that police arrested Leonardo Jastiva, pastor and president of International Missionary of the Seventh Day Adventists, for wife Judith's death.
Police said Jastiva faces parricide charges after they found in his possession the cell phone used by Judith's abductors supposedly to contact him.
Investigators also said the pastor appeared uneasy when they first interviewed him about his 39-year-old wife's abduction.
Earlier, Leonardo reported at least three men abducted his wife last Feb. 9.
Investigators said they noticed similarities in the “texting" styles of the pastor and the supposed kidnapper. - GMANews.TV

The Bahamas- A Christian place where men can rape their wives
Oh yes and if we look at the demographics, in total the population is 95% Christian.
http://www.state.gov/g/drl/rls/irf/2005/51625.htm
For all about rape in the bible, see here: http://www.evilbible.com/Rape.htm
While the site is atheist, and I do not agree with some things, the point is about what is written in the bible.
Marital rape law 'is a human right'
A POWERFUL human rights group has thrown its weight behind the government's plan to outlaw marital rape in the Bahamas.
Amnesty International has vowed to back the proposed amendment of the Sexual Offences Act in order to protect the rights of every Bahamian woman.
A spokesman for the group told The Tribune: "Amnesty International would certainly support that law being passed.
"We view women's rights as a human right. If there is abuse in any kind of relationship, whether it is within a marriage or with unmarried couples, or in the case of incest, all of those are matters that need to be dealt with properly within the law.
"On the basic stance of the law, Amnesty would support the way it's written to support persons rights."
The amendment, introduced to the House of Assembly by Minister of State for Social Development Loretta Butler-Turner last month, has sparked a heated national debate on the issue.
In Parliament last month, Mrs Butler-Turner noted that the current law is outdated adding that spousal rape had long been outlawed in many other countries.
American law recognised marital rape as a crime in 1976 but it is still a sensitive issue as many states have lesser penalties for persons convicted of the offence, compared to acquaintance rape or that of a stranger.
The present law in the Bahamas defines rape as an act of any person not under 14 years of age having sex with another person who is not his spouse without the consent of that other person; without consent that had been extorted by threats or fear of bodily harm; with consent obtained by impersonating the spouse of the other person; or with consent obtained by false and fraudulent representations as to the nature and quality of the act.
The proposed amendment would omit the words "who is not his spouse" in essence making it illegal for any person to have sex with another without consent -- regardless if they are married or not.
Under the current law, rape can only occur in a marriage if the couple is legally separated.
Some local religious leaders have argued that a man cannot rape his wife claiming the Bible dictates that a wife must physically submit to her husband.
Controversial pastor Cedric Moss has vocally opposed the legislation claiming the amendment would create a "society of rapists." Citing the "word of God", Mr Moss argued that rape cannot be committed in marriage because the couple gave each other authority over the other's body and agreed to open-ended sexual consent in the marriage contract.
He argued that including spouses as potential rapists would contradict the sacrament of marriage.
"But can it be right to bring married people under such a law designed for unmarried people? No, and a thousand times, no! It is not right and it can never be right to bring all married couples under this definition of rape whereby moment by moment consent is required for every stage of every act of sexual intercourse.
"Each day you will be a potential rapist in your own home if you initiate sex with your wife without her consent," he told the Rotary Club of West Nassau earlier this month.
Other opponents believe the proposed change will devastate marriages and families in this country and say more discussion is needed before the amendment is signed into law.
Women's rights advocates hit back saying rape is rape and that a wife should have the right to tell her husband "No" to sex in order to defend herself from an abusive or promiscuous husband.
In its 2008 Human Rights Reports on the Bahamas, the United Nations noted that while rape is considered illegal in this country the current law does not address spousal rape.
"Violence against women continued to be a serious, widespread problem. The law prohibits domestic violence, and the government generally enforced the law. However, domestic violence laws do not provide penalties separate from other crimes of assault and battery and do not
effectively criminalize sexual violence within a marriage," said the report.
The report said that the RBPF dealt with 114 reported rapes last year, a decrease from 136 in 2007.

Pastor charged for abusing Wife
The pastor of a Houston-area church as been accused of domestic violence.
James Wallace Dixon, 47, is charged with assault on a family member, a misdemeanor.
Dixon, who is pastor at Community of Faith Church in north Houston and was a Metro board member from 2004 to 2009, is free in on $50,000 bail.
Officials said the charge stems from an altercation Jan. 25 between Dixon and his estranged wife, whose name has not been released. The couple has been separated for about 9 months, officials said.
Investigators said that Dixon went to his wife's home in the 5000 block of Bridge Valley Drive to drop off the couple's children. His wife let him inside the home briefly but then asked him to leave.
Dixon allegedly pushed her, picked up their youngest child and went outside, officials said.
His wife followed and stood behind his car, apparently to to prevent Dixon from leaving. Officials said that Dixon allegedly grabbed the woman and threw her inside the house.
Bill Miller, a spokesman for Dixon, released a statement Thursday evening.
"Reverend Dixon believes very strongly in our criminal justice system. Until this case is resolved, he wishes to thank all of his friends, family and church members for their prayers and support.
"Beyond that, the Dixon family requests that their privacy be respected and will have no further comment on this matter."
If convicted, Dixon faces up to a year in the Harris County jail and a maximum of a $4,000 fine.

Father stabs 3 year old to death, attempts to kill wife, and linked to an evangalist
Detectives are investigating whether a man suspected of stabbing his three-year-old son to death is related to a wanted evangelist.
Officers are examining possible family ties between Paul Otieno, 31, and flamboyant millionaire pastor Gilbert Deya.
Kenyan prosecutors want to put Mr Deya on trial over claims he abducted "miracle babies" and handed them to infertile followers in Britain.
After being arrested several times by Scotland Yard officers, he continues to battle against extradition from his base in Peckham, south east London.
Otieno remains under arrest in hospital in a serious condition after attempting to kill himself. He has wounds to his throat and body.
Police believe he stabbed his three-year-son Wilson to death and attempted to murder his wife, Jacqueline, 28, when she threatened to divorce him.
When officers arrived at their flat on the Lynton Estate, in Bermondsey, south-east London, on Monday, they found his 17-month-old baby daughter unharmed. Mrs Otieno was taken to hospital suffering a slash wound to the neck and has since undergone further surgery.
Neighbours said the family were regular churchgoers but is not clear if they attended the Gilbert Deya Ministry in Ormside Street, Peckham. They had lived in the block of flats for about a year and Otieno was also known by the name Paul Deya.
Gilbert Deya, 57, who has claimed he was consecrated as an archbishop in the United States in 1992, faces five allegations of child kidnap between 1999 and 2004.
He is the head of the Gilbert Deya Ministries religious movement, which at one point boasted a private jet emblazoned with his signature.

Fleeing her abusive husband
Intresting storey in this about a woman who's fled to America from Guatamala (stats show the country is 91% christian).
Paul wrote a woman was made for man didn't he? And how she has to submit (which literally means "worship" religiously speaking)like how Sarah did to Abraham? Oh and lets not forget the sexist OT verses (which Jesus honoured and respected) as well.
Rody Alvarado Peña, now 40, was 16 when she got married in her home country of Guatemala. Her husband severely beat her for more than 10 years—pistol-whipping her, using her head to smash windows, chasing her with a machete, dragging her down the street by her hair, and kicking her repeatedly in the stomach in hopes of aborting their baby.
In 1995, Rody ran away to the United States and sought asylum. See, generally, asylum here is only granted to people who are part of social group that is persecuted—abused women traditionally do not count. But lawyers in Rody’s case argued that they should, because women in Guatemala are persecuted in a targeted way—more than 4,000 women in the country have been beaten to death by their husbands in the past decade, and only 2% of the cases were ever solved.
http://www.thefrisky.com/post/246-women-fleeing-beatings-from-their-husbands-could-get-asylum-here/
Just a little comment, hundreds of women in the US (which is 85% christian with some christian values and beliefs in their government and judicial systems) die from domestic abuse. So the chances of her gaining freedom is not that high.

Christian Preacher raped woman for "disobedience"
We've seen similar stories like these. Pretty common.
The holy spirit guides all.
A PREACHER accused of raping a woman on seven consecutive days as punishment for disobeying him has insisted he is innocent.
Paul Denton, 46, of Edison House, in Barnhill Road, Wembley, made his alleged victim's life 'hell on Earth' and repeatedly beat her, jurors have heard.
He even changed his name to Lord Denton by deed poll, Inner London Crown Court heard last week.
In his bid to promote Christianity, Denton opened up his former home in Daventry, Northamptonshire, allowing local deprived children to do as they pleased, jurors were told.
The 32-year-old woman claims she endured a series of attacks at the hands of her religious tormentor, with him punching her in the face, headbutting her and pulling out her hair.
Asked if he raped her, Denton told the jury: "No, at no point at all."
Outlining his youth, he spoke of how he was born in Croydon and moved with his parents to South Africa when he was eight months old. But when they split up his father kidnapped him.
Denton said he was sent to boarding school and studied law at university for a year. But he was forced to drop his degree and leave South Africa in 1981 after a controversial political protest.
Jurors were told about Denton's unusual past and behaviour, including alleged use of prostitutes.
His alleged victim said he also believed women should be submissive to their husbands and to the Lord Jesus, 'because the scripture says'.
**Yes it is true the bible (ephesians 5:88) literally calls for a woman to WORSHIP her husband**
In addition, he had been to Russia for a month to customise a Zeppelin airship for spreading Christianity.
When he returned in late 2007, he told the woman he had slept with a Russian doctor. But when the alleged victim challenged him about his attitude, he got angry and took revenge on her, raping her 'day after day', it is claimed.
Denton was reported to police last February.
The preacher denies seven charges of rape, four of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, one of witness intimidation and one of indecent assault.
Its okay for him to lie. Paul allowed it for Christ in Philippians 1:18 and in 1 Corinthians 9:19-23.

Domestic Violence in Alberta, Canada
Alberta has a 50% christian population of the 3 million living in the province. Because alchohol is very nessesary in christianity, domestic violence against women is very high. And thats really anywhere. Where theres alchohol, theres obviously christians, and where theres christians, theres the holy spirit operating in every one of them.
Search for yourselves. Alchohol is often directly related to women getting beat or rape. And this doesn't always apply to wives. It could be girlfriends too. Maybe even sisters or daughters. Hey its the christian faith. Anything can happen. Negative that is.
The Alberta Council of Women's Shelters is worried the economic downturn is contributing to more domestic violence in Edmonton.
"The boom is a bit of an accelerant for domestic violence as people turn more to drugs and alcohol,"said Jan Reimer, provincial co-ordinator for the organization.
"But you often see the same type of thing when the economy is in a nosedive. People are doing much the same thing, seeking solace in drugs and alcohol, and that's fuelling violence in the home."
The council released figures Tuesday that show Edmonton police responded to 1,451 spousal violence calls in the first quarter of this year, compared to 1,098 such calls in the last quarter of 2008.
"Thirty per cent is considerable," Reimer said.
But a police spokeswoman said the numbers should not be attributed to more violence, but rather to a new, more detailed data-collection system that has been implemented at EPS in the past year.
"They reflect the way we collect statistics, it doesn't mean there's an increase in the number of incidents," said spokeswoman Patrycia Thenu.
The department has also been working to raise awareness among officers about domestic violence and how to investigate such cases, she said.

I dont think many people care about an increase, the fact that it happens is bad enough.
